I've taken you here before, but in a different season. It's now late summer and the trees and plants change from week to week. It's starting to look like fall, even if it doesn't feel like it. It's 90F in Philadelphia as I write this. Too, too hot for me at any time of the year.
Low tide and late summer flowers.
This is a nice place to sit when the sun swings around and the bench is in the shade.
The Ben Franklin Bridge to New Jersey.
Cormorants walking on water. I love that they float low in the water, their heads like periscopes.
In a few more years, this park will be even more interesting.
Lovely fall flowers. I just wish the background vista was lovelier. Camden, NJ.
The Walt Whitman Bridge to New Jersey. And the ruins of piers.
Beauteous!! Thank you.
ReplyDeleteAways happy to share nature! Well, almost always. I like this place because few people come here.
DeleteSo glad we could come along with you Joan!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Peggy. It's not as impressive as some city parks. Fairmount Park is a huge park on the other side of the city, but Philly has lousy public transporation, so it's hard to get to. On this side of the city, it's mostly pocket parks, except for Washington Square, which always has too many people for me.
DeleteLovely photos. I even like the combination of natural beauty with an industrial background. It's good that both worlds can survive in close proximity. Is that a scary bridge to go across?
ReplyDeleteThose are two different bridges, The Ben Franklin to the north of us and the Walt Whitman to the south. I don't like any high bridges, but these flat ones aren't as bad as the ones that arch, like the Girard Point Bridge, south of us. I almost had a panic attack driving across that one. Jack has to drive over it and has to stay in the middle lane. I do know that none of these compare to the terror of your Forth Bridge!
DeleteLooks like a very nice place to spend an afternoon!
ReplyDeleteIt's the best we can do for some relatively peaceful nature without getting in the car and braving the traffic around Philly. This one is within walking distance, about a mile each way.
