R. I. P. Turtle

Our hearts are breaking yet again.  Saying goodbye to seven beloved pets in ten years is too much.  We said goodbye to Turtle, the last of our pets, yesterday to spare her suffering.  Doing the right thing is sometimes the hardest thing to do.

    1. I got your e-card. Thanks, Stefanie. I'm sure everyone who has pets knows what this is like. She was a very good cat.

  2. I'm so sorry to hear this, Joan. It can be heartbreaking but we always know when our pets have had enough & at least we can let them go without pain.

    1. Thanks, Lyn. I remember you went through this with Abby a few years ago. I actually looked up your old posts to reassure myself that we were doing the right thing. We miss her so much already.

  3. So sorry Joan, at least Turtle had a good long life with two caring people.

    1. It was all so sudden. A few days ago, I thought I recognized signs of fluid in her chest based on our experiences with her three siblings. Impaired breathing is never a good thing. I hope we didn't react too quickly, but we didn't want her to suffer. It's a decision you can't take back.

  4. My condolences on your loss and I bet Turtle is now enjoying herself at the rainbow bridge.

    1. Thank you. I don't believe in life after death, but I thought about the Rainbow Bridge yesterday and wanted to believe. It is comforting to think that they'll all be waiting for us.

    1. Thank you, Danielle. She was a sweetheart, never any trouble, always healthy, unlike her three siblings. It would have been easier if she had appeared sicker, but we let her go to spare her all that.
